December 2007 Budget Finals
2008 has begun and I finished our first month of keeping track of our budget. I detailed our goal in an earlier post and posted a mid month update. As explained in the latter post, gifts were a budget killer in December, what with the Christmas Holidays, birthdays and anniversaries. Because of this, we came out $300 under our goal. The brights spots were a lower gas bill and less spent on clothing as well as increased income from my wife.

I knew that this was going to be a tough time to track, but it should make tracking the other months easier. Going forward, I will be tweaking to goal column to account for a further increase in my wife’s income, although Jan income may not be to good because of this week and last weeks holidays. She get paid hourly and looses out if the center has to close. I also made steps to rub out the $14 bank fee. The credit card bills are being rolled into a home equity loan, and this will lower the payments to around $500 per month, but that won’t begin until Feb at the earliest.
