ING Account Openned

A week back, I was pondering what to with our little one’s gift money. We could not open an account in her name as it would be a strike against the state healthcare she receives for being disabled. It was decided that we would have my wife open a saving account online so as to earn better interest on her little savings. Local banks would be offering very little interest on the small amount of dollar’s she has collected.
After some consideration, I decided to go with ING Direct’s Orange Saving’s Account. With a referral, they were offering a $25 bonus with minimun of $250 initial deposit. Also, the account earns a decent 4.1% currently. It is not the best around, but since I am already getting about 10% up front, it is already ahead of others. Thanks to Meg, I was able to get the referral I needed and opened that account today. It will be fun to see the little one’s money grow, but now what to do with the older daughter’s money? Anyone else offering a signup bonus?

  1. Great idea for taking care of that gift!

And I have a referral if you would like it–just drop me a line.

  2. I don’t know of anymore promotions, but I did a little research on high yield online savings accounts.

The one with the highest APY (of 5.05%) was FNBO Direct Online Savings.

  3. @ Amanda, thanks for the offer, but I am not sure that a household can have more that one bonus.

@Meg, I have put FNBO on my short list for now. BTW, your new site looks good, accept that with my 1024×768 laptop, I have to scroll to the right to look at the far right sidebar. You may want to look into that.
