Work Related News Part 1: Hello Emergency Fund!

It is that time of the year.  I had my review over at work.   The review process is cumbersome and last several months and is filled with lots of politics.  I have found out that it really is not up to how you do individually, but what kind of wheeling and dealing can be made behind closed doors between managers and officers.  I could fill out my yearly summary till the page is completely filled with back laser ink, but it won’t matter much to who matter.

With that said, I am quite happy with how I did monetarily this year.  My manager is very good to me and I can tell that she fights hard, given the situation that my family is in emotionally.   She does look after me throughout the year and allows me to have flexible time to tend to our daughter’s medical needs.  God bless her.

So how did I do?  Well, as to my bonus, after taxes I am able to come close to filling up our emergency fund to it’s 2008 goal of $5000 by the end of this year.  Currently, that fund is at $300, so it will get $3000 from my bonus, plus another 10 months of $100 deposits.  With interest, that should put the fund at about about $4400.  Another $600 from the Federal Tax Rebate and out emergency fund will be filled.

There should be about another $500 left in the bonus, which will be used to pay for a summer trip that our family will be taking.  It will be nice not to have to rely on credit cards to pay for it.

Tomorrow will see part 2 of this two part series, so stay tuned.
